At the time this listing hit the Elm Treason Shop, we didn't have a chance to really sit down and create a description that lives up to the (admittedly half-kitschy) standards we have established on these pages.

Maybe that's a good thing. (No need to nod in agreement).

So, perhaps just this once, we will lay on you an honest, no frills description of the album in question.

Maybe we should just to give it to you straight, with simplicity, nice and direct. No cutesy stuff.

If we did that, it would, quite frankly (and conveniently), echo the music on this album itself.

Mission accomplished.

This record answers the question: How does a two-man band without the benefit of multiple sets of limbs present the music they make in the studio on stage?

Is it possible to do? Competently?

Can two guys actually create an interesting, stimulating, engaging sound with just two larynxes and two axes?

"Bare Tones" is, in a way, a kind of "greatest hits" package in that it contains songs that span the entirety of the band's studio catalog (four albums) - but in this case, performed live.
